Christian Ponder Isn't Worth Fantasy Consideration Despite Week 9 Performance
I see you, fantasy owners, eyeing up Christian Ponder with intrigue after as strong showing agains the Dallas Cowboys. I know that in your world, numbers talk, and Ponder has you listening.
Well, I'm here to tell you to change the station.
First of all, we don't even know if Ponder will be the starter moving forward or if the Minnesota Vikings will go with Josh Freeman once he returns from a concussion.
Secondly, in Ponder's five appearances this season, he's reached 15 or more fantasy points in standard-scoring leagues just twice.
Thirdly, Ponder got a nice chunk of his fantasy value on Sunday from a six-yard touchdown run, 6.6 points to be precise. While he is an athletic player, he's not Cam Newton either, and you can't rely on him to rush for a touchdown each week.
Coming into this game, Ponder had just two touchdown passes to five interceptions. It's pretty dangerous trusting a quarterback with that ratio. Continue to ignore Ponder in all formats.
