Despite Bobby Petrino’s departure for the pros, the Cards still look dangerous. Brian Brohm is ready and has deep threats Mario Urrutia and Harry Douglas to back him up. Latarrius Thomas, Malik Jackson, and Preston Smith will handle Mike Cassity’s defense. The equalizer: Kicker Art Carmody. The loss of head coach Bobby Petrino should not matter too much as Louisville returns most of its talent, including top NFL prospect – and Heisman Trophy candidate – QB Brian Brohm and linebacker Malik Jackson.

The consensus is that West Virginia is the best in the Big East, with their scorching ground game and home field advantage in the contest with Louisville.  But the Cardinals will have an offensive attack of their own and a slightly better defense.  Kicker Art Carmody will be the difference in the close games, with his most accurate ever FG and PAT percentage of 95.7.
