At a measly .318, the average on-base percentage in Major League Baseball in 2013 was the lowest it had been since 1988. In an environment such as this, players who can get on base consistently are basically superheroes.
Shin-Soo Choo is such a player, so suffice it to say he couldn’t have picked a better time to test the free-agent waters for the first time this winter.
