San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is having a tremendous season with his feet.

Halfway through the season, he is on pace to run for 588 yards and six touchdowns. His rushing prowess alone will hinder your ability to really buy low on Kaepernick, but will his struggles in the passing game allow you to get him at a discount?

If that opportunity presents itself, should you jump on it?

Kaepernick has completed 57.1 percent of his passes. Last year he completed 62.4 percent. His passer rating has dropped from 98.3 to 87.6.

Kaepernick, who looked the part of a quarterback that was going to break out, is averaging just 198 yards and 1.1 touchdowns per game. He had a 3.3-to-1 touchdown to interception ratio last year. This year it's 1.8-to-1.

In eight games, Kaepernick has only topped 200 passing yards twice. He has three games in which he failed to throw a touchdown pass and a couple more with just one TD toss.

He has been great in two games, good in three and bad in three. Not the type of performance you'd expect from a QB1.

He is trending in the right direction, though, as he has averaged 205 passing yards, one passing score, 46.7 rushing yards and a rushing score.

Better times should lie ahead as Michael Crabtree's return should be around the corner.

Vernon Davis has 518 yards and seven touchdowns in seven games. Anquan Boldin has 38 catches for 551 yards and two touchdowns.

They have been good weapons, but Kaepernick will benefit by having Crabtree's ability to stretch the field. They clicked last year to the tune of 83.1 yards per game with six touchdowns in the final eight games. Crabtree went on to average 95 yards and a touchdown in the Niners' three playoff games.

The Niners come out of the bye with a tough game against the Carolina Panthers. They also face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 14.

Other than those games, it should be smooth sailing as they face the New Orleans Saints, Washington Redskins, St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons. That's a very favorable schedule down the stretch.

You also won't have to worry that they'll wrap the season up early as they'll be battling the Seattle Seahawks for the division, along with the Saints and Green Bay Packers for conference supremacy.

The Panthers game could extend the buy low period a little, but you better act quickly.
