PHOENIX - APRIL 10: Starting pitcher James McDonald #52 of the Los Angeles Dodgers pitches against the Arizona Diamondbacks during the game at Chase Field on April 10, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona. The Diamondbacks defeated the Dodgers 9-4. (Photo by Christian Petersen/Getty Images)

James McDonald threw 69 pitches 41 for strikes. He only went four innings. I thought he would have at least went five, but I guess they only wanted him to go four.

Carmen Cali came in for James in the fifth and he looked pretty good. He did give up a home run, but he also struck out four in two innings.

I was also impressed with Hyang-Nam Choi. His delivery reminded me of Saito. Choi also gave up a home run and struck out three. The Isotopes pitching struck out a total of thirteen batters tonight.

Jovanny Rosario who was called up from double A started at center for the Topes and he too was impressive. Rosario lead off for the Topes and had two stolen bases. Dee Brown had an awesome diving catch in the eighth inning. Brown also impresses me. He hits for power and plays pretty good defense. Mitch Jones hit another bomb into the CNM parking lot.

Hu and DeWitt seem to be pretty comfortable up the middle, when they turned a double play in the fourth. Hector Luna almost had another triple tonight, but he didn't slide into third and was tagged out. I don't know if he ran out of steam or what but he was beat by the throw.
