Gostkowski has connected on more field goals than any other kicker in the NFL through eight games, hitting 20-of-21 three-pointers for the Patriots. Part of his success has to do with the inefficiency of the New England offense, as Tom Brady has been out of sync with his receivers for much of the season.
Gostkowski's extra points have turned into field goals as a result of the struggles of the Patriots offensive attack. Brady has just nine touchdown passes through eight games; by contrast, Brady once threw 50 touchdowns in a 16-game season, and has not tossed fewer than 34 touchdowns in each of the last three seasons. Even with the return of Danny Amendola and Rob Gronkowski, the kicks should keep on coming for Gostkowski.
