Analysis of 2007-08 Contribution:
The 2007-08 season was Kendrick Perkins' breakout season. Perkins was criticized as a low-effort, slow-learning big man with two left feet. Finally given a shot as the starting center for an entire season, Perkins has displayed top-notch effort and a desire to improve and perfect his craft.
No longer do opposing teams ignore Perkins in the scouting report. He has become an integral part of the team defense and has largely been able to stay out of foul trouble (the biggest weakness in his first four seasons) most of the season.
Perkins has greatly improved his offensive rebounding, shot selection, and even developed one of the smoothest five-foot hook-shots in the game today.
Kendrick does not try to play out of his element and has learned to take advantage of the advice doled out to him by veterans and the coaching staff alike. He will most likely be named to one of the three NBA All-Defense teams for his solid shot blocking and rebounding efforts.
