Brian Waters Injury: Updates on Cowboys Star's Knee, Triceps and Recovery
After flirting with retirement, offensive guard Brian Waters decided to sign with the Dallas Cowboys just prior to the start of the regular season. Perhaps the 36-year-old veteran is now regretting that move as he is could miss the rest of the 2013 campaign due to injury.

Michael David Smith of NBC Sports later reported that Waters will attempt to play this season:
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on his radio show this morning that he expects Waters to miss the rest of the game after suffering a triceps injury on Sunday in Detroit. Waters may try to play through the injury, but Jones didn’t sound optimistic about his chances.
The Cowboys hoped that the six-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro would solidify an offensive line that has been plagued by injuries and inconsistent play in recent years, but Waters hasn't been particularly reliable in his own right.
Sunday was a particularly tough day for him as Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News that he suffered three injuries against the Detroit Lions.
Waters reportedly injured his knee in the second quarter, and then suffered a triceps injury shortly after he returned to the game. The nature of the supposed third injury wasn't revealed, but it's fair to say that Waters is in rough shape regardless.
The battered veteran was hopeful that the injuries he suffered wouldn't threaten his season.
“We’ll find out more information tomorrow,” Waters said. “I’m just trying to make it out of Detroit alive.”
While Waters is certainly alive, his playing status for the remainder of the season is grave to say the least.
Waters sat out the 2012 season after spending 2011 with the New England Patriots. Waters earned a Pro Bowl nod with the Pats, but it's possible that a year away from the game adversely affected him, particularly in the durability department.
He already had 12 years of wear and tear on him entering the 2013 season, and the Lions game suggests that his body couldn't take much more punishment.
Dallas is in control of the NFC East at 4-4, but it has been as inconsistent as ever, and the loss of Waters clearly won't help matters.
