In WWE 2K14, fans are not limited by the constraints of time and reality, so dream matchups aplenty are ready to be played.

The game offers a roster of over 100 playable Superstars from today and yesterday. That allows gamers an impressive number of combinations when grabbing their controllers and momentarily becoming their favorite wrestlers.

Two top stars from two different generations can go at it, today's most intimidating trio can battle a group that impacted pro wrestling like few others and CM Punk can finally have his long-anticipated match against Steve Austin.

After one samples the bouts on the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode and tries to end Undertaker's streak a few times, here are seven dream clashes fans can create and savor.

nWo vs. The Shield

Having The Shield and the founding members of the nWo—Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash—on the same roster begs for a stable vs. stable battle.

The game's downloadable content offers more authenticity, offering fans nWo-themed versions of Hall and Nash. The members of nWo were invaders, outsiders and rule-breakers, just as Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are today.

In real life, the black-clad trio from WCW is too old to put on a great match with this new pack of wolves. In WWE 2K14, this collision awaits.

John Cena vs. Hulk Hogan

We've seen The Rock vs. John Cena and Hulk Hogan vs. The Rock but never this pairing of megastars.

This classic "passing the torch" match is the subject of speculation for WrestleMania XXX even though Hogan is 60 years old and likely to re-sign with TNA. Fans can see a virtual version of this clash with Hogan in his physical prime.

Two of WWE's biggest babyface stars ever going at it in video game form would be a thrill to play for fans of either wrestler. It's likely a match dads will play with their sons as heroes of two generations battle for supremacy.

CM Punk vs. Steve Austin

3 of 7

Before just about every WrestleMania, rumors and gossip about a possible Steve Austin and CM Punk match pop up.

There would be a natural rivalry here , as "The Straight-Edge Superstar" contrasts perfectly with the beer-chugging badass. Austin's age and health keep this from becoming a reality, but video games are not limited by those factors.

Punk's muay thai kicks go up against Austin's mud-hole stomping in a showdown easy to get excited about.

Ryback vs. Goldberg

4 of 7

Power meets power when two parallel figures face off.

Ryback endures mocking "Goldberg!" taunts during his matches, some fans believing him to be a ripoff of the man who tore through the WCW roster in the '90s. Those in that camp can play as Goldberg and hit Ryback with spear after spear.

Having Goldberg in WWE 2K14 gives fans the chance to put on a better Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar match than we saw in real life, flash back to Goldberg's glory days and have two freight trains meet head-on with Ryback vs. Goldberg.

The Rock vs. Shawn Michaels

The Rock's mostly inactive status and Shawn Michaels' retirement cheats fans out of a showdown that should have happened a long time ago.

Aside from Michaels in short shorts superkicking The Rock in 1999, the two Superstars have had little contact. WWE 2K14 allows fans to compose the classic that should have been. Making it a ladder match would up the entertainment value as well.

Players also have the choice of selecting retro versions of Michaels and The Rock for this virtual bout or, in a full departure from reality, pitting Michaels and Michaels vs. The Rock and The Rock.

Randy Savage vs. CM Punk

6 of 7

A potential bout between CM Punk and Steve Austin gets talked about often, but Punk going up against Randy Savage is an even better dream match.

Short of the invention of a time machine, though, it's never going to happen.

Savage's influence on Punk is obvious. Punk sports tights that seem to serve as a tribute to the "Macho Man," and he also uses his famous diving elbow drop. As much as John Cena is today's Hulk Hogan, many see Punk as today's Savage, a great talker with a penchant for stellar ring performances.

Seeing these two rebels and classic-match producers go at it would be a fun time.

Daniel Bryan vs. Bret Hart

7 of 7

Two of WWE's greatest technicians, Bret Hart and Daniel Bryan, will never face each other.

Hart is 56 years old and suffered a stroke in 1999. Imagining "The Hitman" in his prime, countering and reversing moves against Bryan, is the kind of thing a wrestling fan has vivid dreams about.

WWE 2K14 allows fans to either play as the current mat wizard in Bryan or prove that the old school is superior to the new one by having Hart make Bryan tap out to the Sharpshooter.
