Jamaal Charles Injury: Updates on Chiefs RB's Knee
Jamaal Charles has arguably been the best player on one of the best teams to start the 2013 NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs. But the team and Charles received a scare in Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns, as the talented running back had to leave the game with a knee injury.
From Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal:
Charles returned to the game, but missed practice on Wednesday with the injury. He is active for Week 9.
From ESPN's Adam Teicher:
Jamaal Charles is dressed for practice. No matter how much or how little he does today, he will play Sunday— Adam Teicher (@adamteicher) October 31, 2013
The injury didn't seem too serious at the time, as Jeff Darlington of NFL.com reports:
Jamaal Charles, who is dealing with a knee injury on the sideline, is trying to run it off. It doesn't seem serious. Questionable to return.— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) October 27, 2013
Ed Werder of ESPN also noticed Charles remaining active on the sideline:
Jamaal Charles still wearing helmet and now riding the stationary bike _ so he's not going home just yet— Ed Werder (@Edwerderespn) October 27, 2013
Charles would return to the game, which is somewhat encouraging.
Charles finished the game with 18 times for 74 yards and added five receptions for 46 yards. Coming into the contest, he had 898 yards from scrimmage and eight touchdowns.
His loss would be a major blow for the Chiefs, though with a Week 10 bye it would be unlikely he would miss more than one game, if any at all, based on early indications.
