Winners and Losers for Week 8 of the NFL

All week long, there was the Dez vs. Megatron debate, with Bryant saying he can do all the things Calvin Johnson can do.

Not so much.

He didn't need to, but Johnson made it clear who the NFL's premier wide receiver is. He had an amazing 329 yards receiving, including a huge catch in the last-minute drive that led to the Lions' thrilling 31-30 win.

Big winner: Calvin Johnson. Loser in this game? Not Dez (although he had a childish blowup on the sidelines), but Jason Garrett, who gave the Lions time to mount their miraculous comeback.

A big loser Sunday were the Atlanta Falcons. In a game they needed to win, they lost badly to the Cardinals 27-13. Matt Ryan threw four interceptions. Steven Jackson finally came back but was held to just six yards on 11 carries. The Falcons are now 2-5, and the playoffs are miles away for them.

A big winner were the Bengals. Their defense has been stellar all year, but now their offense is almost unstoppable. It was against the Jets as Andy Dalton threw five touchdowns, including four to Marvin Jones. No doubt Cincy has a firm grasp on first place in the AFC North and may be rising to one of the top teams in the AFC.
