Predicting Danny Amendola's Long-Term Fantasy Value in 2013
New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola is officially active in Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins after a strong recovery from a concussion per ESPN's Adam Schefter:
Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray is inactive. Patriots WR Danny Amendola is active.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) October 27, 2013
Like Amendola's fantasy forecast against Miami, the savvy veteran does not have an outstanding outlook the rest of the year.
Once again Amendola has issues with injuries and has played in just three contests. While Amendola has been one of Tom Brady's favorite targets (16 receptions, 159 yards), he needs to actually be on the field to have value from a fantasy perspective.
Outside of health concerns, Amendola's stock is hurt by tight end Rob Gronkowski, who caught eight passes for 114 yards upon his return last week.
Amendola is at best a No. 3 wide receiver in most leagues unless he faces a soft defense. He simply has not shown the ability to stay healthy, which is a major issue in fantasy. Now that Gronkowski is back and playing at a high level, Amendola will see fewer opportunities than ever to contribute.
