South Carolina sophomore running back Mike Davis went down with an ugly leg injury in overtime against Missouri on Saturday night.

CBS Sports' college football Twitter feed provides the concerning details:

Eesh--Mike Davis takes a huge blow to his right leg. He walked off the field, but did not look good.

There are few running backs in America who have been better than Davis this season, and with how severe the injury looked, this threatens to serve as a major punch to the stomach for the Gamecocks.

The strong, explosive back entered the weekend with 879 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on 132 carries (6.7 YPC). He had also tallied 201 yards through the air.

Davis ranked first in the SEC in both yards and touchdowns from scrimmage, and was adding to those totals on Saturday night.

Before exiting, he had 51 yards on 19 carries to go with another 99 through the air on 10 receptions.

Shon Carson, who entered the day averaging 3.3 yards per carry on the season, is Davis' backup.
