The San Diego Padres Injury Report in Pictures

Mike Adams was one of the top relievers for the San Diego Padres in 2008 and was a nominee for Setup Man of the Year, posting a 2.48 ERA through 65.1 IP.

During the offseason, Adams underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his pitching shoulder and was forced to miss the start of the 2009 season. With the Padres' bullpen posting a 0.34 ERA through their eight game win streak, they get that much scarier with a healthy Adams.

He made his first rehab appearance on May 21 for Lake Elsinore and pitched scoreless inning. Look for him to make his return to the Padres in late June or perhaps after the All-Star break.

Cha Seung Baek was expected to be the number three starter in the Padres rotation but never made out of spring training before being the next victim of the injury bug.

Baek looked like was going to make his return in late May but suffered a setback during a rehab start, complaining of tightness in his pitching shoulder, so the Padres shut him down. He underwent another MRI but it revealed no further structural damage.

There's no current time table for Baek's return, but the way this rotation is pitching right now, it only gets stronger when he is 100 percent.

Everth Cabrera was a pleasant surprise for the San Diego Padres, making great defensive plays, showing speed on the base paths and even getting better offensively.

All that progress was cut short after breaking a finger on his left hand and he was sent to the disabled list and underwent surgery to repair the finger on Apr. 21.

Expect the young up and coming star back with San Diego possibly in late June.

Now, before you Padre fans start freaking out, no David Eckstein isn't on the disabled list but he is day to day after being hit in the chest by a Carlos Zambrano fastball on Friday night.

Eckstein squared to bunt and got hit square in the chest and was on the ground for a scary few minutes before getting up and walking to first base under his own power.

He would then be removed from the game to undergo treatment from the training staff but is expected back in the Padres' lineup against the Cubs on Sunday afternoon.

Cliff Floyd was another one that got bit by the injury bug during spring training. He came to the Padres with a shoulder problem but once that was taken care of, it was then his knee that began giving him problems.

He was put on the disabled list prior to the start of the season and through mid-April, there was worry that Floyd may not make his Padres' debut until after the All-Star break. But he's made great progress and made his first rehab start in Lake Elsinore on May 19.

It's not known whether he'll make all of his rehab starts with Lake Elsinore or if he'll play a few games with Triple-A Portland to face more advanced pitching but manager Bud Black expects Floyd to play in at least five to six games before returning to San Diego to make his debut.

Shawn Hill was one of the more surprising pitchers as the 2009 season opened, opening eyes of even manager Bud Black.

But Hill was pulled from a start with tightness in his pitching elbow and there was fear that he may have to undergo season ending surgery.

Fortunately for San Diego, tests showed to structural damage to his elbow. It's not know exactly when Hill will be ready to come back, but the time table as of right now is mid-June but that's subject to change depending on how his rehab starts go.

The Padres were excited about the possibility of having Mark Prior in any capacity, even just getting him back on the mound as a member of their bullpen would have been a victory.

They knew they wouldn't have him to start the season, but they were hoping to get Prior on the team after the All-Star break, but after complaining of soreness in his pitching shoulder during a side session on Apr. 30.

The team has shut him down indefinitely and there's no indication whether or not Prior will be able to start throwing again.

After the injury to Everth Cabrera, Luis Rodriguez stepped in as the every day short stop for the San Diego Padres.

That all came to a halt in Chicago as Rodriguez sprained his left ankle after rounding first base on a single. He was placed on the disabled list on May 14 but there's no indication when he'll be back with the team.

Silva was another starter the Padres were excited about, especially after first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and older brother Edgar Gonzalez came back from playing with Team Mexico in the WBC, ranting and raving about Silva's talents.

The Padres brought him in for a workout and the staff was also impressed with what he brought to the table.

Silva would make only two starts for San Diego before he would also be placed on the disabled list with what the Padres said was a strained right forearm.

Silva made his first rehab start on May 15 and looked good according to people that were there. He's expected to come off the disabled list at the end of May or early June.
