Middle Tennessee State Finishes Touchdown-Laden Game with Score as Time Expires

Gabe ZaldivarPop Culture Lead WriterOctober 25, 2013

No time? No worries.

There is something so wonderful about buzzer-beaters, especially those rare ones that happen on the gridiron. Yahoo! Sports' Nick Bromberg brings us the latest game-winner coming at the last possible second.

In fact, Middle Tennessee State procured its win over Marshall with absolutely no time left on the clock. But that's pretty much how this game was destined to end.

As Bromberg notes, the game that eventually went to the Blue Raiders on Thursday night, 51-49, featured some ridiculous stats: 58 first downs, 1,033 yards between the two teams and 14 scintillating touchdowns.

Really, a game with that much scoring was bound to pour over beyond the confines of regulation.

Now you might notice that the stubborn game clock is stuck on three seconds the minute Logan Kilgore snaps the ball at the end of the game. ESPN's breakdown of the game assures us that time had expired by the time Tavarres Jefferson cradled the ball for a last-second touchdown.

That catch gave Jefferson his lone score on the night to go along with his seven receptions for 91 yards. However, it was a banner night for C-USA quarterbacks.

Marshall's Rakeem Cato threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns while the Blue Raiders' QB spread the ball around to the tune of 277 passing yards and four touchdowns.

Fans of prolific scoring certainly missed an entertaining game from Floyd Stadium.

Triumphant Middle Tennessee now looks forward to UAB as they try to stake a claim for a now tumultuous East section of the conference.

The Blazers would do well to work hard on defense, even after time expires.
