Buffalo Sabres left wing John Scott has been suspended for seven games by the NHL for his hit on Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson a week ago Wednesday, according to the league’s official website.

The incident took place during the third period of Boston's 5-2 win over Buffalo, when Scott targeted Eriksson’s head on a blindside check in the neutral zone.

The veteran enforcer was given a match penalty for charging and ejected from the game.
