El Clasico is quickly approaching and the world is starting to turn its gaze to Spain. Barcelona and Real Madrid will once again be locking horns and a lot could already be riding on the encounter.

Every time these two giants meet, there are individual battles that could decide the outcome and those are exactly what we are going to look at in this article.

We won’t be taking a look at the battles of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the world should be accustomed to them by now. Instead, we will look at three new key battles that will play a major role in the match.

Continue reading to find out which players will be fighting it out on Saturday.

Neymar vs. Arbeloa

One of the new battles to El Clasico will be that of Alvaro Arbeloa defending Neymar. This battle alone could have a huge impact on how the game turns out.

Since making his move to Europe, Neymar has been one of the most dangerous players around. He hasn’t been scoring a lot of goals, but he is a constant headache to any defense.

At the same time, Arbeloa has been the weak point in the Real Madrid lineup for a while now. His defending is not what it should be and he has a knack for being caught out of position.

Arbeloa will have his hands full with trying to stop Neymar, and all signs point to the Brazilian having a big night.

It will certainly be one to watch.

Gareth Bale vs. Adriano

Assuming that Gareth Bale will start on the right wing, Adriano will be forced to spend the entire game defending the world’s most expensive player.

Bale’s speed and explosiveness is tough for any defender to deal with. The problem for Barcelona is that Adriano is not as solid of a defender as they would like.

However, Adriano is fast in his own right and will likely try to use his speed to mark Bale on and off the ball. But if the Brazilian starts to venture too far up in attack, Bale may get the openings he needs to find the back of the net.

This battle will all come down to how healthy Bale is and if Adriano commits himself to defending first and attacking second.

Isco vs. Sergio Busquets

In truth, this may be the single most important matchup of El Clasico for years to come. With Mesut Ozil no longer running the midfield for Los Blancos, Isco must be the one to tie everything together.

Over the past few years, Barcelona’s world-class midfielders have played a big role in the Catalan club’s success over Real Madrid. Once Ozil began to show his best, Los Blancos began to truly challenge their rivals.

Simply put, Ozil was the most important player for Real Madrid in every Clasico.

Isco will now pulls the strings and Sergio Busquets will be the one who has to step up and nullify the Real Madrid midfielder. Busquets has done it to some great players, but Isco could prove difficult to handle.

If Isco is not able to create chances and build up attacks, Real Madrid will not win El Clasico. The outcome relies heavily on these two players.
