Tottenham are arguably the best team in the Europa League. Sheriff Tiraspol are the best team in, well, Moldova.
It's not hard to see why Spurs will be favored heavily in this one, even on the road.
The club have handled their business in two Europa League games already, taking all six points and scoring five goals in the process. But Sheriff have played well also, drawing their first two games to set up a clash of Group K leaders.
When: Thursday, October 24 at 1 p.m. ET (6 p.m. BST)
Where: Sheriff Stadium, Tiraspol, Moldova
After a rash of summer signings brought on by the bounty obtained in Gareth Bale's sale, Spurs had plenty of new talents to be excited about. But it's a player who was already on the squad, Andros Townsend, who has perhaps been the most impressive.
I think Andros can be our new Gareth Bale. He has so much pace, technique and skill, and he can destroy you with both feet. I just hope he can keep going like this and he can be our best-ever player.
I really think that, maybe one day, he could reach that level if he keeps working, which I’m sure he will. He’s still young, and in another two or three years I think he can reach that level. He’s 100 percent professional and I like him as a person as well so I’m very happy he’s doing this well.
I remember playing against him in training last year. Sometimes I played left-back so I played against him when he was on the right wing in training, and I never liked playing against him.
I was asking: Why is this guy not playing every week, with this talent? But of course, he had Aaron Lennon ahead of him and had to wait for his chance.
In seven Premier League appearances, Townsend has scored a goal and earned a 7.69 average match rating from WhoScored.com. Only Aaron Ramsey (8.14), Mesut Ozil (8.0), Olivier Giroud (7.98) and David Silva (7.1) have graded out higher.
If he plays against Sheriff, you can bet he'll terrorize the team's full-backs.
Of the new additions, talented midfielders Paulinho and Christian Eriksen have been the brightest, while Roberto Soldado has been steady and the best seems yet to come from Erik Lamela.
But it's been Tottenham's defense that has been the star, allowing just five goals in eight Premier League matches (tied for second in the league) and earning a clean sheet in all five of their non-league games.
Sheriff Tiraspol have an uphill battle on their hands.
Sheriff Tiraspol might provide a scare or two for Tottenham in front of their home supporters, but they'll be badly overmatched. Spurs would give most Champions League teams trouble, and they won't falter here.
Tottenham win, 4-0.
