CSKA Moscow Paint Pitch Green Before Manchester City Match
CSKA Moscow have come under fire for the pitch conditions prior to their Champions League match with Manchester City.
City manager Manuel Pellegrini pulled no punches in his pre-match comments to George Scott of theDaily Star:
I just saw the pitch and I think it’s unbelievable that the most important cup competition in the world is allowed to be played on this pitch.
We must pray on Wednesday that it’s not raining. If it’s raining, it will be impossible to play on this pitch.
It could be called off. I didn’t believe it when I saw the pitch, both for the two teams and also for the people who will watch the game.
In response, the Russian side have done the only sensible thing: painting the field green. Sky Sports News have filmed the event, and OffThePost.info grabbed the screencaps.
Pellegrini was already afraid of the rain, but now that the pitch has been thoroughly painted, the rain could have an extra consequence: colouring both teams green. It's certainly shaping up to be an interesting match, if nothing else.
