Q: What do you get when you combine blazing speed, elusive quickness, cat-like reflexes and true playmaking ability?
A: Two of the most dynamic players in NCAA football; Brandon James and Trindon Holliday.
Brandon James and Trindon Holliday put on a show every time they touch the ball. When the two talented hybrids share one field, there is never a dull moment. Watching these players duel for field position in the return game will be one of the most electric and entertaining battles of the season.
Fans will also get a chance to see both players in some type of hybrid role within their respective offense. This matchup will be highly anticipated amongst both groups of fans and will be sure to turn some heads.
No. 2: Joe Haden (Jr., CB, Florida) vs. A.J. Green (So., WR, Georgia)
No game quite defines “anticipation” like Florida vs. Georgia. Go ahead and throw the rankings and national title implications out the window. This annual rivalry game is always a fan favorite.
Georgia’s talented sophomore sensation, A.J. Green, may have won first Team All SEC honors last season, but it was Joe Haden who won the battle on the field. Haden, a second Team SEC talent in his own right, set the early tone in last year’s annual rivalry.
The Bulldogs were looking to cap a strong first quarter drive when Haden stepped up to intercept Matthew Stafford's sideline pass to A.J. Green and return it 88 yards to the Georgia one-yard line.
It was a game breaking play that completely changed the early momentum of the game. A.J. Green was held scoreless and accounted for less than 100 yards receiving in a game dominated by the Florida defense.
The two All SEC foes will go to battle again this year. A.J. Green will be hungry for revenge and Haden will have the support of a veteran secondary. With the lack of experienced weapons in the Bulldog offensive arsenal, it’s a safe bet that Joe Cox will target A.J. Green early and often.
No. 1: Tim Tebow (Sr., QB, Florida) vs. Eric Berry (Jr., SS, Tennessee)
The anticipation for this matchup is unrivaled.
The rivalry game will be Tebow's first true test taking snaps under center against an SEC opponent. NFL scouts will be eager to see how Tebow performs against an elite defensive back.
Eric Berry certainly fits the mold of an “elite defensive back”. Berry was named the SEC Defensive Player of the year in 2008. He was also a unanimous first-Team All SEC selection and a consensus first Team All American. Many NFL scouts consider Berry to be an elite Top 10 draft prospect.
Tebow and Berry also have quite a history of personal battles.
In 2007, true freshman Eric Berry intercepted Tim Tebow and returned the pick 96 yards for a score. The interception was the first of Berry’s illustrious career and came in front of a packed house at the Swamp.
On the other hand, Tebow has never lost a game to Tennessee. In fact, Tebow has traditionally had some of the best games of his career against the Vols. Berry’s interception return in 2007 is the only blemish on an otherwise perfect career against the Vols.
And if you want to get technical, a blown route by freshman receiver Riley Cooper was the true cause of that interception.
There is no doubt that Tebow and Berry are two of the most dynamic players in the game of college football making this one of the most anticipated matchups of the season.
