Here, NFL fans, is your list of football's most deplorable villains and archenemies.

Seeing as how every week features a bevy of remarkable athletic feats that could cause you to believe the league is made up of a collection of superheroes, it makes sense that it would feature some diabolical characters as well.

Forbes' Tom Van Riper reports on a recent survey taken by E-Poll Market Research that lists the most disliked athletes in the NFL.

Here are the top five, according to the survey, along with the percentage of respondents who stated they disliked that particular athlete.

  1. Michael Vick—53%
  2. Manti Te'o48%
  3. Ndamukong Suh43%
  4. Ben Roethlisberger—40%
  5. Mark Sanchez—40%

Jay Cutler, Tony Romo, Tom Brady, Carson Palmer and Reggie Bush round out the list, respectively.

Based on the report, 1,100 people 13 and over were asked their opinions, and only those active players who garnered a 10-percent awareness from respondents were included.

With that, we have a short list that will undoubtedly cause quite the heated debate.

An interesting point from Van Riper: "Pollsters have told us on a few occasions that while Vick scores well with hardcore NFL fans, casual fans still identify him mostly with the legal woes of a few years ago."

There is something to be said for watching a man each and every week. It humanizes someone like Vick and perhaps makes it easier for some fans to forgive the awful actions in his past.

The inclusion of Te'o, who featured in the greatest and most peculiar football story of the year, is another interesting noteWhile Te'o contends that he was duped into believing he had a girlfriend and that she had died, it's clear that a huge portion of fans don't buy into that being the entire story.

At the very least, the thought of the soap opera caused those polled to toss the rookie's name into the dislike pile.

Considering the nature of sports, it's easy for fans to find some reason to dislike players, especially those from opposing teams.

The inclusion of Suh, notorious for his questionable antics and dirty play, may not come as a surprise, but the idea that Brady, an all-time great, made the list is quite shocking. Perhaps fans have grown weary of hearing his name each and every week during the season.

Whatever the case, we now have a selection of the sport's most vilified, though some names are easier to buy than others.

It's also worth noting that seven of the 10 athletes are quarterbacks, lending credence to the belief that the most visible on the field are often the most polarizing. It's a good gig if you have the talent, but there will always be someone who hates you.
