Lavon Pearson Commits to Tennessee: Vols Land Quick 4-Star JUCO WR

The Tennessee Volunteers landed another explosive wide receiver on Sunday when Lavon Pearson joined the program's growing list of commits in the 2014 recruiting class, according to his Twitter account.

The 6'3", 180-pound playmaker is a product of Denbigh High School (Newport News, Va.) and ranks among the country's top junior college prospects.

Pearson, a sophomore, stars at Feather River College (Quincy, Calif.). He is listed as the nation's No. 7 JUCO recruit by 247Sports.

The speedy receiver runs a 4.48 40-yard dash, according to 247Sports, and possesses elite athleticism. His production at the JUCO level is hard to ignore.

Through six games this season, Pearson leads the Golden Eagles with 62 receptions for 1,114 yards and 10 touchdowns, according to the team website. He has scored a touchdown of at least 50 yards in four games.

Pearson earned interest from several BCS football programs. Aside from Tennessee, he also holds offers from Illinois and Utah.

The 4-star recruit received an offer from the Volunteers in September. He spent an official visit in Knoxville last weekend and attended the team's upset victory over SEC rival South Carolina.

Pearson joins an impressive group of Tennessee pledges. Coach Butch Jones has acquired commitments from 27 players in the 2014 class, which is listed at No. 4 in the nation by 247Sports composite rankings.

Wide receiver is a position of strength for the Volunteers. Pearson is the latest pass target to commit to a class that includes 3-star receivers Dominique Booth (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Kameel Jackson.

He's the third prospect to create a verbal pact with the Volunteers in October. Defensive end Derek Barnett (Brentwood, Tenn.) and offensive tackle Dontavius Blair (Garden City Community College, Kan.) also accepted offers this month.
