Roddy White Injury: Expectations for Harry Douglas in Week 7
Things have gone from bad to worse for the Atlanta Falcons, as the team will missing their two most dangerous wide receivers when they host Tampa Bay today.
With Julio Jones already out for the considerable future, it'll be a challenge for Matt Ryan to generate offense through the air without Roddy White out of the lineup as well.
It's official: Inactive Falcons WR Roddy White will miss the first game of his 8-year career, breaking 133-consecutive game streak. #TBvsATL— Atlanta_Falcons (@Atlanta_Falcons) October 20, 2013
In the absence of two Pro Bowl receivers, Ryan will have to rely more on 29-year-old Harry Douglas, so the Louisville product is certainly worth a look if he's still available on the waiver wire in your fantasy league.
So far this season, Douglas has reeled in 16 passed for 219 yards, and he'll certainly build on that total against the 0-5 Buccaneers.
He's proven to be a useful target for Ryan when the opportunity arises, as Douglas racked up 93 yards on four catches against the high-powered Saints in Week 1, so one has to think he's good for at least 50-60 yards against Tampa Bay.
No, he's not going to be the impact receiver that White or Jones has been for the Falcons, but Douglas is certainly capable of giving Ryan a secondary option when Tony Gonzalez is blanketed by coverage.
Given the Falcons' lack of alternatives, expect Douglas to register his first touchdown of the season against the Buccaneers today.
