Rey Mysterio has been off of WWE television due to injury since February. This past Thursday, Mysterio made his long awaited return to in-ring action at a WWE live event in Guadalajara, Mexico.
According to a report by Marc Middleton of ProWrestling.com, Mysterio teamed with Sin Cara to take on Alberto Del Rio and Wade Barrett. The report goes on to state that;
It was noted by fans in attendance that while Mysterio carried most of the match for his team, you could still see how he was trying to protect his knee. Mysterio is expected to return to WWE TV next week.
Mysterio's in-ring return is great news for WWE and the WWE Universe. Mysterio is a solid fan favorite who should still be capable of putting on an entertaining match. Reports of him being careful in the match should not come as much of a surprise. It's no secret that Mysterio has bad knees, so him going all out in that match would have been careless to say the least.
Mysterio's return to the ring might be openly welcomed by one Sin Cara as well. Mysterio and Sin Cara were an entertaining tag team prior to his injury. Since Mysterio's injury, Sin Cara has dealt with his own injury issues as well as WWE's lack of direction for him. If WWE were to reform this team it would not only help Sin Cara's career, but it would also help bolster the tag team division.
Regardless of whether Mysterio is back as a singles competitor or tagging with Sin Cara, it's going to be great to see him back on WWE TV in the very near future. Let's just hope that the aging Mysterio can avoid injury for a while.
