Stefon Diggs Injury: Maryland WR Breaks Leg in Game vs. Wake Forest
The Maryland Terrapins suffered a tough 34-10 loss to Wake Forest. To make things even worse, they've now also lost their start receiver Stefon Diggs to a broken leg.
Jeremy Fowler of CBS Sports reported that Diggs had broken his fibula and will require surgery.
Maryland WR Stefon Diggs broke fibula and will have surgery, per @sunjeffbarker. Brutal for Terps.— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerCBS) October 19, 2013
Before the injury, Diggs was having a big game, catching eight passes for 67 yards. On the year, he had 34 receptions for 587 yards and three touchdowns.
Diggs was the Terrapins' leading receiver, but Maryland also lost their second-best receiver on Saturday. According to Jeff Baker from The Baltimore Sun, Deon Long was also carted off of the field with a leg injury.
Without either of these receivers, the Terrapins are really going to struggle in the passing game, and that's bad news for a team that's lost two of their last three games. They will be playing Clemson next week, and you can be that the offense will struggle to get things going through the air.
