LeBron James Says He May Wear '80s-Style Short Shorts in a Game

We are in an era of long shorts, but the NBA's biggest star may be thinking about bringing back the short shorts in a game.

According to Chris Broussard of ESPN, the Miami Heat's LeBron James is planning on going with a throwback style:

I'm just wondering how in the heck they played like that. I might bring it back, though. I might play in some small shorts this year. Pay my homage to the '80s, to Dr. J and John Stockton. I don't think it's going to catch on, but I'm going to do it one game, maybe opening night. I can't go all the way up (the legs), though. Athletes today are built a little differently in the legs.

At least he's wise enough to acknowledge that it won't catch on in this day and age.

James is a big fan of Julius Erving, and has even said that Dr. J is one of the top three players of all time.    This would be a way for him to pay some respect to one of the game's greats.

The 28-year-old has already shown off the look on his Instagram account:

And he made it clear that he can have some fun in the shorts:

If he can get his teammates to take part, it could be a fun idea. When a team has won back-to-back titles, its players have earned the right to change up their uniforms however they so choose.

Who knows if James will actually go through with it. The Heat open the season with the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 29, so make sure to tune in to see what look James is sporting.
