You know how it goes when you are a retired footballer. The days of training and matches are behind you and it is time to consider your options.

Some choose the coaching and management route, some go in for media work, while others look toward a return to civilian life in the pub trade or somesuch world, miles away from the adoring supporters of your past.

Then, of course, there is Faustino Asprilla.

The former Newcastle United and Colombia striker was never short of controversy during a playing career, which included two spells with Parma in Serie A.

The 43-year-old, who officially retired from playing in 2009, has been offered the chance to play his, er, part in a porn film, as reported by El Heraldo newspaper (via Yahoo.com).

Colombian adult film company Santa Latina posted an open letter attempting to lure the former striker into a starring role in one of its forthcoming pictures:

Dear Faustino Asprilla

For years [we] have followed your successful career, which has made you a national icon invaluable in Colombia.

We are convinced that the lifestyle you lead and the media controversy it causes is vital so we dared to make the following proposal.

As you know, [Santa Latina] is an adult entertainment site (...) And that's why we offer you 20 million pesos for a week as a porn actor.

This is a unique offering, which awaits your prompt response. We are convinced that with a little training you could exploit another talent all of Colombia knows you have.

The lifestyle the company refers to includes an alleged machine-gun shooting spree near his farm in southwest Colombia in 2008, as Amol Rajan of The Independent reported.

And for a man nicknamed El Pulpo (the octopus), Asprilla might just be perfect for the role.

Lights, cameras, Tino!
