Week 7 Fantasy Football Rankings: Top Plays at Every Position
Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

Heading into Week 7, there are a few fantasy football truths that have been established this season.

The Kansas City Chiefs defense is fantasy gold. Peyton Manning is good for 25-plus points a game (when he's not playing against the Jacksonville Jaguars, that is). LeSean McCoy is going to go off for 100-plus yards almost every single week.

But the tinkerer in all of us needs to know how players stack up in the rankings.

With that in mind, here's a look at the top 10 players at every position for fantasy football in Week 7.

Week 7 Fantasy Rankings: Quarterback
Rank Player Team Opponent Proj. Points
1 Tony Romo Dallas Cowboys Philadelphia Eagles 30
2 Peyton Manning Denver Broncos Indianapolis Colts 28
3 Philip Rivers San Diego Chargers Jacksonville Jaguars 26
4 Cam Newton Carolina Panthers St. Louis Rams 23
5 Andrew Luck Indianapolis Colts Denver Broncos 21
6 Jay Cutler Chicago Bears Washington Redskins 20
7 Nick Foles Philadelphia Eagles Dallas Cowboys 19
8 Tom Brady New England Patriots New York Jets 17
9 Aaron Rodgers Green Bay Packers Cleveland Browns 16
10 Russell Wilson Seattle Seahawks Arizona Cardinals 15

Tony Romo against Philadelphia's defense is a fantasy matchup made in heaven. Rookie Mike Glennon had a big game against Philly last weekend, passing for 273 yards and two touchdowns—and he's horrible.

The Eagles allow the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, and Romo has had a couple of huge games recently. He's due for another this weekend.

Peyton Manning is always a threat to have a huge game, and he's got some extra motivation heading into Sunday's game against his old team. Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay made headlines this week, talking about how Manning wasn't a winner in the postseason, as noted by Jarrett Bell of USA Today:

"We've changed our model a little bit, because we wanted more than one of these," Irsay says, flicking up his right hand to show his Super Bowl XLI championship ring.

"(Tom) Brady never had consistent numbers, but he has three of these," Irsay adds. "Pittsburgh had two, the Giants had two, Baltimore had two and we had one. That leaves you frustrated.

"You make the playoffs 11 times, and you're out in the first round seven out of 11 times. You love to have the Star Wars numbers from Peyton and Marvin (Harrison) and Reggie (Wayne). Mostly, you love this."

Then Irsay flicks up his right hand again.

Nicely done, Irsay.

Now you've made Peyton angry.

Running Back

Week 7 Fantasy Rankings: Running Back
Rank Player Team Opponent Proj. Points
1 Matt Forte Chicago Bears Washington Redskins 24
2 LeSean McCoy Philadelphia Eagles Dallas Cowboys 22
3 Jamaal Charles Kansas City Chiefs Houston Texans 20
4 Marshawn Lynch Seattle Seahawks Arizona Cardinals 18
5 Ray Rice Baltimore Ravens Pittsburgh Steelers 17
6 C.J. Spiller Buffalo Bills Miami Dolphins 16
7 Frank Gore San Francisco 49ers Tennessee Titans 14
8 Arian Foster Houston Texans Kansas City Chiefs 14
9 Reggie Bush Detroit Lions Cincinnati Bengals 13
10 Knowshon Moreno Denver Broncos Indianapolis Colts 12

Matt Forte has been held in check the past couple of games, putting up impressive yardage but failing to score. He's going to finally break through with a huge fantasy game this weekend, however, when the Chicago Bears travel to face the Washington Redskins.

Washington gives up the third-most fantasy points to running backs of any team in the league. Barring the last game against Dallas, the Redskins haven't been able to shut down any team's rushing attack.

As usual, LeSean McCoy is a must-start. He'll likely be heavily utilized against Dallas as a way to protect Nick Foles from Dallas' ferocious interior pass rush.

Marshawn Lynch has been extremely hot the past two weekends, and he will have another big game this week on Thursday Night Football against the Arizona Cardinals, which allowed Frank Gore to rush for over 100 yards last week.

Wide Receiver

Week 7 Fantasy Rankings: Wide Receiver
Rank Player Team Opponent Proj. Points
1 Dez Bryant Dallas Cowboys Philadelphia Eagles 25
2 Brandon Marshall Chicago Bears Washington Redskins 23
3 Justin Blackmon Jacksonville Jaguars San Diego Chargers 20
4 DeSean Jackson Philadelphia Eagles Dallas Cowboys 20
5 Reggie Wayne Indianapolis Colts Denver Broncos 18
6 Vincent Jackson Tampa Bay Buccaneers Atlanta Falcons 18
7 A.J. Green Cincinnati Bengals Detroit Lions 17
8 Victor Cruz New York Giants Minnesota Vikings 17
9 Torrey Smith Baltimore Ravens Pittsburgh Steelers 16
10 Wes Welker Denver Broncos Indianapolis Colts 16

Dez Bryant and Romo should have huge games against the Eagles.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

No team in the league gives up more fantasy points to opposing receivers than Philly, which allows 35 points per game on average.

After busting out with two touchdowns and nine receptions last week, Brandon Marshall is due for another big game this weekend against the Redskins. Washington's secondary is riddled with holes, and Marshall's size will be a huge advantage against DeAngelo Hall.

Scott Kane-USA TODAY Sports

Justin Blackmon is another hot receiver with a hot matchup this weekend.

After hauling in 19 passes the past two weeks, he's going up against San Diego, which, before Monday night's shocker against Indianapolis, had been atrocious against the pass in 2013.

Tight End

Week 7 Fantasy Rankings: Tight End
Rank Player Team Opponent Points
1 Vernon Davis San Francisco 49ers Tennessee Titans 22
2 Julius Thomas Denver Broncos Indianapolis Colts 20
3 Tony Gonzalez Atlanta Falcons Tampa Bay Buccaneers 18
4 Antonio Gates San Diego Chargers Jacksonville Jaguars 16
5 Jason Witten Dallas Cowboys Philadelphia Eagles 14
6 Jordan Cameron Cleveland Browns Green Bay Packers 12
7 Martellus Bennett Chicago Bears Washington Redskins 11
8 *Rob Gronkowski New England Patriots New York Jets 11
9 Greg Olsen Carolina Panthers St. Louis Rams 9
10 Charles Clay Miami Dolphins Buffalo Bills 9

Provided he plays.

The Tennessee Titans have already allowed four touchdown passes to opposing tight ends, and Vernon Davis will add to that total on Sunday. Davis has been unstoppable the past two games, catching 11 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns.

He and Colin Kaepernick are connecting with regularity deep downfield, and they'll connect a few more times against the Titans.

Julius Thomas is a weekly member of these top-10 rankings, and he should have a field day on Sunday against the Colts. Indy's defense has been decimated by injuries lately—especially its linebacking corps. Thomas' speed and agility in the middle of the field will be a huge problem for this defense.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Tony Gonzalez should be heavily targeted when the Atlanta Falcons take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He's Matt Ryan's primary target with Julio Jones out for the season and Roddy White still recovering from ankle and hamstring injuries.

Week 7 Fantasy Rankings: Defense/Special Teams
Rank Team Opponent Proj. Points
1 Kansas City Chiefs Houston Texans 20
2 Seattle Seahawks Arizona Cardinals 19
3 New England Patriots New York Jets 19
4 San Francisco 49ers Tennessee Titans 17
5 Chicago Bears Washington Redskins 16
6 Baltimore Ravens Pittsburgh Steelers 15
7 Carolina Panthers St. Louis Rams 11
8 Tennessee Titans San Francisco 49ers 11
9 Miami Dolphins Buffalo Bills 10
10 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Atlanta Falcons 10

Kansas City's defense is licking its chops for the chance to get after Matt Schaub, Case Keenum or T.J. Yates on Sunday. Houston's offense is a train wreck right now, and the Chiefs have been taking apart opposing offenses all year long.

Thanks to a dynamic front seven, the Chiefs have sacked opposing quarterbacks 31 times already this year. That number will go up in Week 7.

Look for Seattle's turnover-happy defense to force Carson Palmer into a few costly mistakes, too. He's thrown nine interceptions in the past four games.

The contest pitting the 49ers against the Titans could prove profitable for both defenses, as both teams have been forcing turnovers with regularity of late.

Week 7 Fantasy Rankings: Kicker
Rank Player Team Opponent Proj. Points
1 Matt Prater Denver Broncos Indianapolis Colts 16
2 Stephen Gostkowski New England Patriots New York Jets 16
3 Robbie Gould Chicago Bears Washington Redskins 16
4 Dan Bailey Dallas Cowboys Philadelphia Eagles 15
5 Blair Walsh Minnesota Vikings New York Giants 12
6 Steven Hauschka Seattle Seahawks Arizona Cardinals 12
7 Mason Crosby Green Bay Packers Cleveland Browns 11
8 Dan Carpenter Buffalo Bills Miami Dolphins 11
9 Justin Tucker Baltimore Ravens Pittsburgh Steelers 10
10 Ryan Succop Kansas City Chiefs Houston Texans 10

Matt Prater plays for the highest-scoring offense in the league, and he's a lock as the top kicker every week until the Broncos start showing signs of letting up (hint: it's not going to happen).

Stephen Gostkowski should also have plenty of work when the New England Patriots take on the New York Jets. Tom Brady hasn't been scoring touchdowns in abundance this year, but the Pats can still move the ball on offense.
