The Monday, October 14 edition of WWE Raw, which was live from St. Louis, Mo., opened with Shawn Michaels coming out to the ring to a warm ovation from the crowd.

Before beginning to promote his special guest referee appearance at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, Michaels thanked all the wrestling fans for voting him into that position on the WWE app. While promoting Hell in a Cell, Randy Orton came out to the ring and interrupted Michaels.

Orton spoke about growing up in St. Louis but quickly told Michaels that the people who live in the city are not smart, which drew quick heat on the former WWE champion. After threatening Michaels, Orton attempted to hit the RKO. However, Michaels maneuvered Orton's RKO move. As Michaels went for the Sweet Chin Music, Orton slipped outside the ring.

Suddenly, The Miz attacked Orton by ringside before a commercial break.

Match No. 1: The Miz vs. Randy Orton

Your winner via pinfall: Randy Orton.

Basic opening match, as The Miz, although not a surprise, could not seem to get a strong babyface reaction in Orton's hometown. The WWE did a nice job of introducing the Wyatt family into the match by shutting down the lights as The Miz was gaining momentum for the win. This match was effective enough to get Monday Night Raw warmed up with the crowd and viewers.

Match Rating: 3/5.

Match No. 2: Fandango vs. Santino

Your winner via pinfall: Fandango.

What normally happens when Santino is involved in a match? Entertainment with the crowd and on the losing end. That is exactly what happened, as Santino actually got some offense into this match, but Fandango pulled off the cheap victory thanks to his dance partner, Summer Rae. Nothing special to note about this match, as time simply went by.

Match Rating: 2/5.

Match No. 3: Los Matadores vs. 3 MB

Your winner via pinfall: Los Matadores.

The WWE is doing all it can to give Los Matadores some steam by having them go on a winning streak. The crowd seemed pretty entertained with their opening act and in-ring work, which should be an encouraging sign for a young tag team. The question remains on whether Los Matadores could live up to its potential.

Match Rating: 3/5.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon come out to the ring next. McMahon spoke first with harsh words for the Big Show and immediately praised her husband afterward for his countless accomplishments. "The Game" showed his frustration and spoke about the Big Show's actions last week on Raw.

While the crowd continues to chant at Triple H, Daniel Bryan came out to the entrance way. However, Alberto Del Rio attacked Bryan. McMahon announced a match between Del Rio and Bryan later on Raw.

Match No. 4: R-Truth vs. Ryback

Your winner via pinfall: Ryback.

Ryback defeated R-Truth in five minutes and 44 seconds, in which CM Punk must beat that time against Curtis Axel to pick the stipulation at the Hell in the Cell pay-per-view. However, R-Truth played this match to perfection by running outside the ring to waste time on the clock. Another pretty basic match.

Match Rating: 3/5.

Match No. 5: Tons of Funk vs. The Real Americans

Your winner via pinfall: The Real Americans.

This was a very predictable match, as the WWE would have serious booking issues if it had slotted the Tons of Funk to pull an upset. Unfortunately, this tag team match never seemed to click.

Match Rating: 2.5/5.

Match No. 6: Brie Bella vs. Tamina

Your winner via pinfall: Tamina.

This match was essentially booked to chew off some time leading into the Punk and Axel feature.

Match Rating: 2/5.

Match No. 7: CM Punk vs. Curtis Axel

Your winner via pinfall: CM Punk.

Paul Heyman's reaction at ringside was completely priceless after Punk defeated Axel to beat the clock with just a few seconds left. Punk made his match stipulation quickly afterward and booked a handicap match between himself against Ryback and Heyman.

Match Rating: 3/5.

Match No. 8: Daniel Bryan vs. Alberto Del Rio

Your winner via count out: Alberto Del Rio.

During the final moments of the match, Orton made an appearance on the entrance way screen and went inside the training room to "check" on the Bella Twins. Bryan was able to counter Del Rio's leg kick and rushed to the training room. After being counted out, Bryan went inside the training room and was attacked by Orton.

Del Rio and Bryan showed great chemistry and executed this match very well.

Match Rating: 4/5.

Match No. 9: Goldust and Cody Rhodes vs. The Shield

Your winners and new WWE tag team champions: Goldust and Cody Rhodes.

Best match of the night on Monday Night Raw. The Big Show's appearance drew tremendous pop from the crowd, as the fans certainly went home happy. Excellent main event match, as both teams lived up to the moment.

Match Rating: 4.5/5.
