Thad Lewis' Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 6
Second-year quarterback Thad Lewis got the starting nod for the Buffalo Bills against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6, as rookie E.J. Manuel is nursing a knee injury.
Lewis did post two total touchdowns by the 10:17 mark in the fourth quarter, but he also was averaging just 5.3 yards per pass attempt at the time of publication.
Is Thad Lewis worth an add in fantasy football?
It is worth noting that not all of Lewis' passes went for short gains. He connected with tight end Scott Chandler for a 22-yard touchdown to help bring the Bills to within a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
But expecting the 25-year-old to rack up touchdowns at the rate he did on Sunday would be expecting too much. Most quarterbacks need a decent adjustment period in the NFL. Lewis, an undrafted free agent in 2010, is no different. He went 22-of-32 for 204 yards with one touchdown to one interception in his first NFL action last season.
Lewis' Week 7 opponent, the Miami Dolphins, ranked 20th in yards allowed per pass attempt heading into Week 6, as well as 15th in passing touchdowns ceded.
But it's risky to start an inexperienced quarterback like Lewis, especially given he will be playing on the road.
