Final: Panthers 35, Vikings 10
It was the Cam Newton show in Minnesota as the Panthers' quarterback led Carolina to a dominating win over the Vikings.
He finished the game 20-of-26 for 242 yards and three touchdown passes and a touchdown run.
The Panthers' defense shutdown the Vikings as safety Mike Mitchell picked off Minnesota quarterback Matt Cassel twice. Those two picks led to 14 points.
The Panthers' offense put together two long first-half drives of 15 and 14 plays to take a 14-3 lead after 30 minutes. They opened the second half with a big 79-yard catch and run by wide receiver Brandon LaFell to open the second half and put the game away.
Cassel, who led the Vikings to a win over the Steelers in his first start, finished 32-of-44 for 241 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Adrian Peterson, playing after the death of his two-year-old son this week, was held to 62 yards on 10 carries. The fast start by the Panthers limited the Vikings ability to establish the running game.
The Panthers, now 2-3, will host the Rams next week, while the Vikings, falling to 1-4, will play the Giants in New York next Monday.
