Penn State Upsets No. 18 Michigan in 4-OT Thriller
The Penn State Nittany Lions took down the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines in quite a thriller, pulling off the upset in the fourth overtime.
True freshman quarterback Christian Hackenberg came to play for the Nittany Lions. He finished the game going 23-for-44 with 305 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. He led his team on an incredible fourth-quarter comeback, pulling off some big throws down the field. He then ran it in on a QB sneak with 27 seconds remaining to tie it up.
The overtime periods were filled with missed field goals, turnovers, and incredible guts. In the fourth overtime, with the Nittany Lions needing a field goal to tie or touchdown to win, Penn State decided to go for it on fourth down. They converted, and it led to a two-yard touchdown by Bill Belton to win the game.
The loss for Michigan certainly hurts their chances at a Big Ten title or BCS bowl game. They had avoided a couple of upsets this year, but their luck finally ran out against Penn State.
