Davis Webb Shines in Big Win as Texas Tech Cruises Past Iowa State
The Texas Tech Red Raiders won in a shootout against the Iowa State Cyclones, with Davis Webb shining under center.
With Baker Mayfield injured, the Red Raiders had to go exclusively with their true freshman quarterback in this one. Webb was tremendous in the win, going 35-for-56 through the air for 415 yards, three touchdowns and just one interception.
Despite being just a three-star recruit out of high school, Webb has had a pretty successful start to the season. He's thrown for 965 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions this season, which are solid numbers for a true freshman.
It appears that the Red Raiders will be just fine if Webb becomes the starter for the rest of the season. They're now 6-0 on the year with a big win over TCU back in September, and they're looking to stay undefeated for as long as possible.
There are few true freshman that can come in and be as effective as Webb was this week, and it looks like he will have quite a bright future at Texas Tech.
