World Cup qualifying is reaching a crescendo. Nine nations have already secured their ticket to join hosts Brazil next summer, but a further 22 places are still up for grabs.
Here are your 11 qualified teams so far—Brazil (hosts), Australia, Iran, Japan, Korea Republic, Italy, Netherlands, Costa Rica, USA and Argentina.
Friday, Oct. 11, will see crucial matches take place all over the world. In Europe, England cannot afford a slip-up against Montenegro in Group H. Portugal and Russia also have vital games in Group F.
South American qualifying is equally as tense. Chile, Uruguay and Ecuador are among the teams fighting it out for third place and an automatic spot at the World Cup.
Everywhere you look, drama is unfolding. We'll be covering it right here.
The win England needed, and results elsewhere - while not perfect - do at least mean Poland have nothing to play for on Tuesday.— Alex Dimond (@alexdimond) October 11, 2013

FT at Wembley. Daniel Sturridge converts a late penalty, having been fouled cutting inside, and England come out 4-1 winners. Brazil beckons.

Fate of the UK economy next summer resting on the next 45 minutes of football at Wembley ...— Rob Harris (@RobHarris) October 11, 2013
If Ireland can't turn this around against Germany then we'll need at least nine points from our last match to qualify. A big ask.— Dara ö Briain (@daraobriain) October 11, 2013
Russia winning 3-0 at Luxembourg. The Russians, managed by Fabio Capello, can qualify for the finals tonight. Looks like they will. That will leave Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo facing a play-off.
Ukraine 1-0 Poland If it stays this way, Ukraine will lead group going into last round of matches. And they have San Marino final game— Dan Roan (@danroan) October 11, 2013

Sturridge struggling to get involved in the match so far. Making some intelligent runs but not much space in behind Montenegro defence.— Alex Dimond (@alexdimond) October 11, 2013
