After dispatching the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 5 of the National League Division Series, the St. Louis Cardinals ought to feel plenty comfortable in the surroundings they’ll encounter next.

This is the third year in a row the Cardinals have made it as far as the National League Championship Series. And going back to 2000, they’ve played in eight of the last 14 championship series overall.

Waiting for the Cardinals in the NLCS, however, is a tough team in the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cardinals are going to need a few things to go right for them to take the next step to the World Series.

As far as MLB Lead Writer Zachary D. Rymer is concerned, there’s a certain Dodgers pitcher who might actually be vulnerable in the NLCS against the Cardinals. Elsewhere, there are a couple of bats the Cardinals need to get hot, a couple of arms they need to keep rolling and an additional arm they need to pitch well.
