NBA Live 14: Teams We'd Love to See Featured in Extended Game Play

Every detail of the first extended game-play footage for NBA Live 14 will be heavily scrutinized. Obviously, things like graphics, animations and ball physics will be paramount in the minds of gamers, but the teams featured in the snippet are also important.

Determining these types of details before an important reveal is likely sent through several filters of thought.

Do the teams featured have a star that too closely relates to the competition? I'd be willing to bet you won't see LeBron James or the Miami Heat in action in any pre-release footage.

James is the cover athlete for NBA 2K14, so that association could be confusing to fans who aren't hardcore. If the King is featured, it'll likely be limited.

Secondly, does the squad have a strong national following?

While the Milwaukee Bucks, the Sacramento Kings and the Charlotte Bobcats have their share of diehard fans, those clubs aren't exactly examples of marquee franchises in the NBA. Each will certainly be in the game but probably not part of the hype train.

Lastly, do the teams feature players who have some sort of immediately recognizable physical trait, accessory, etc. Since the Cleveland Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving is the cover athlete, an extended game play with the Cavs could take advantage of the distinct hairstyle Anderson Varejao sports.

These details are important to capture accurately and gamers will be checking the video for authenticity. With those parameters set, here's a short list of teams that would be great to show in a trailer.

Golden State Warriors

Stephen Curry is one of the NBA's newest superstars and the Warriors are a hot group collectively. The team made the Western Conference semifinals last season, and with the addition of Andre Iguodala to the roster, hopes are high for this year as well.

In game-play footage, the Warriors could sport their sleeved jerseys to show off the attention to detail and fans would likely love to see Iggy with his new team.

New York Knicks

Despite underachieving in last year's playoffs, this is still the Knicks. The franchise is one of the three most popular organizations in the NBA. Attention and notoriety is never an issue with teams based in the Big Apple.

Fans will want to see if Iman Shumpert's high-top fade is properly represented; while Carmelo Anthony could be one of the stars equipped with Live 14's Signature Style. The Knicks would be a solid choice in a game-play trailer.

People love new things. The Pelicans are the newest team—sort of. They were previously the Hornets, but the logo, the colors and the branding has changed. Seeing the new uniforms in the game would be a small treat.

The team is a sleeper pick of sorts as a potential playoff contender, so there is a little bit of buzz surrounding it. Also, Anthony Davis' uni-brow is always something fans will be looking for. It's sad but true.

There's also the additions of Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday to the team to add a touch more interest. Seeing new acquisitions with their new teams is always part of the early experience with a new game.

Hopefully, an announcement on the next piece of media associated with the game will be available soon.
