TMZ Report Allegedly Caused Lamar Odom to Cancel Meetings with NBA Teams

The strange tale that is Lamar Odom’s life continues to twist and turn, with the latest development being what appears to be an abrupt retreat from the NBA.

According to TMZ, the Clippers forward was planning a trip to New York to meet with team officials and prove his sobriety, but cancelled his plans after he was spooked by a report published by the gossip site.

Here’s a section from the TMZ report published on Wednesday.

“Lamar Odom is flying to New York later meet with honchos from several basketball teams, and he’s carrying what he claims is proof that he’s clean and sober...sources connected to Lamar tell TMZ.”

TMZ updated their story at 11:20 p.m. PT on Wednesday, however, claiming that Odom had seen their report and subsequently canceled his travel plans.

“Lamar bailed on the flight to NYC. We’re told he became uneasy about making the trip after we posted this story about his plans -- and he has not rescheduled.”

The TMZ report also claimed that Odom had his blood and urine tested for drugs on Tuesday, and the results came back negative.

With that said, the narrative involving the former Clippers forward and his future in the NBA only becomes muddier. To date, TMZ's reports on Odom's alleged drug addiction continue to be based on anonymous, unnamed sources—reports that have yet to be corroborated by Odom or his wife, Khloe Kardashian

Was Lamar Odom really planning to travel to New York to meet with team officials? We may never know, but if there’s a shred of truth in this report, we can assume Odom still wants to play basketball in the NBA.
