As I was watching ESPN just minutes ago, UCLA announced Kevin Love's entry for the 2008-2009 NBA Draft.  The Star Freshman that led UCLA to its semi-final before being eliminated by Memphis had an amazing first season with the Bruins, averaging 17.5 ppg, 10.6 rpg, and a 35% 3 pt shooter as a 6'10 center.  This young, talented freshman looks on with a bright future with the NBA.  Hopefully, he doesn't turn out like J.J. Redick, who was one of the NBA's top prospects coming out of Duke.  Kevin Love, not shy at all, has dominated in every game he has played this season, and you can tell that he loves every second, every tick on the court  If he is successfully drafted, by which Lakers is his dream team, he would be indeed lucky.  A 6'10 center, K.Love has good body mass with strong hands.  But, averaging 2 turnovers per game while playing for the Bruins, he would have to transition.  By transition I mean changing his game-play style, because I've watched K.Love closely and he likes to play among half-court.  Fast game-play is not his habit, and definitely not his liking, so if he was matched up with the Denver Nuggets or the Golden State Warriors, he would be in trouble.  The Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl likes EXTREMELY fast game-play.  He says in a magazine," Inbound the ball up the court, and try to get a shot up within 10 seconds."  This is why the Nuggets are number 2 in points? I believe?  Kevin Love would work hard like any other NBA Draft, Greg Oden returning next season for the Portland Trailblazers, being the number 1 pick of the 2007-2008, thought he missed the whole season due to injury.

A question to now ask you is, what number do you predict he'll get?  North Carolina's Hansborough, being the CHEVY Player of the Year as center might be a higher draft # than Kevin Love.  I believe that K.Love will be drafted in the first round, first 10.  What do you guys think?  Comment below with your thoughts.

  1. What a surprise, another athletically-gifted young black man in college forgoes getting an education to throw a ball around. What a fantastic role model for the millions of black youth who have similar dreams of NBA stardom who will never, ever, EVER get there. If black folks can't ever do anything more that jump, dance, sing and shuffle for the Man then there is simply no hope. You wanna do something exciting and original, TALL, talented young black man? Study to be a doctor or an electrical engineer. Now THAT would be exciting.

    1. lol keivn love isn't black...

    2. For calling Kevin Love black I think that you just openly admitted to knowing less the nothing about sports. Why are you on this site? Clearly you should be somewhere else. Never comment again. Even an idiot who knew nothing about college basketball could tell he was white, you know why? THERE'S A PICTURE!

    3. i kno dude >.>

  2. kevin love isn't black...and he's going to the nba because he deserves to..he's proven it

  3. I don't know about a bright future for Love in the NBA. Perhaps some of this comes from being a USC fan, but I don't think I'm being biased when I state the following. The only position that is really appropriate for Love in the Association is at the 4. Love is simply too short for center, his 6'10'' is a very generous 6'10''. When UCLA visited the Galen Center he was just barely shorter than Taj Gibson, who is listed at 6'9''. I also can't imagine Love as a small forward, although he has an excellent jump shot for his size he simply does not have the foot speed or ball handling skills to play the 3. So power forward it is, but Love didn't make his money from using his athleticism to cut to the rim, he used his body and size to create space for his shot and vie for position. Matched up with similarly sized athletic defenders will make it very difficult for Love to use his highly developed inside game. Perhaps he could become a defensive specialist, but again he simply does not have the athletic ability to play outside of a half court set and is liability to be scored on in transition. As I see it at best he could become a fringe starter/6th man type of player, but will more likely end up as a solid, if unspectacular, bench player.

  4. agreed agreed. i totally see him as a power foward, but he needs to get that quickness and agility not every power foward has. But i don't see him as a bench player. haha, i see him getting a solid 25-35 mpg. We'll see, hopefuly he'll be drafted by lakers ahha.
