Rashard Mendenhall: Week 6 Fantasy Outlook

Through five games this season, Mendenhall has tallied just 219 yards on 69 carries, giving him a woeful 3.2 yards per carry average. But while normally he would be a must-sit in a match-up against the San Francisco defense, the 49ers are giving up an average of 113.6 rushing yards per game and have allowed six rushing touchdowns this season, so there just might be a very faint glimmer of hope.
Anyone who owns Mendenhall is either extremely desperate for running back help or just an eternal optimist as he's done nothing this season to warrant your trust. The Cardinals could give him the ball quite often in the early part of the game to try and establish some sort of ground attack and put that defense to the test, but given his overall skill set, the likelihood of him doing much damage is minimal. Mendenhall's job security is hanging by a very tiny thread right now, so don't be surprised if he struggles early and gives way to Andre Ellington.
