Tactics and Analysis

Neymar, Diego Costa, Pedro Leon and Maxwell

Placing Neymar, Diego Costa and Pedro Leon in the same team is an obvious move, so too is having a side crammed full of Brazilians.

Look carefully at this 4-3-3 and there’s two sides to this league hybrid team.

The ridiculous pace, power and technical ability of the front three is built to romp through your opposition. If Neymar’s weightless physique gets barged over, Costa will be there to sort the offender out. Similarly, Leon’s ability to deliver accurate crosses gives the Atletico Madrid forward plenty of chances to lap up.

Most importantly, incorporating three central midfielders sitting behind the aforementioned forwards provides the team with a much-needed sense of balance. With Maxwell and Dani Alves on the flanks, the threesome of Casemiro, Paulinho and Sandro provides physicality, tackling ability and positioning awareness.

While this team is likely to cost millions, be sure to tinker around with other players. Alves can easily be swapped for Sevilla's Cicinho, while Thiago Silva can be replaced with David Luiz. Brazilian players are highly accounted for in most leagues, so you’ll have no problem ensuring chemistry is high.

Adnan Januzaj

This starting XI should be considered a celebration of Premier League starlets, built around the player everybody has been craving for at least five days.

A heavy Belgian influence is popular at the moment, but it’s a good idea to try out players many would overlook.

Thorgan Hazard has improved massively this year and is a cheap alternative to his older brother, Eden. Playing just ahead of Januzaj, the speedy duo’s ball control and slick short passing is capable of turning defences inside out, especially when you consider Romelu Lukaku lurks in the middle.

The presence of Gerard Deulofeu, who is at Everton along with Lukaku, also allows the team to take on a Spanish influence down the right side. Linking Deulofeu with Jesus Navas—who plays like a more established version of the 19-year-old—provides an intense sense of speed and outrageous dribbling technique.

As these players bomb, Marouane Fellaini and Ross Barkley patrol the centre. As both are inclined to moving forward, be sure to operate defensively when under pressure and make use of counterattacking strategies. Your whippets will deliver on the break.
