There's nothing preseason about this pass.
Kevin Love and his band of misfits known as the Minnesota Timberwolves took on CSKA Moscow on Monday night at Target Center.
Eager to extrapolate any bit of basketball we have in October, we can safely say it's going to be a great NBA season. Sure, that might be a tad overzealous considering this was just one pass in a meaningless game. And it might be that we are starved for any amount of basketball action.
But only you sports curmudgeons will deny that this was a damn great pass from a big man looking far more svelte heading into his sixth season.
It all comes in the third quarter of a game the Timberwolves would ultimately lose, 108-106. Thankfully, wins and losses don't matter all that much in early October.
Instead, it's best to look at team camaraderie and chemistry rather than record. If we are going by that alone, this play should keep you Minnesota fans warm as the temperature cools. (The temperature is going to cool, right?)
Love gets the ball and dishes off a dandy of a dime to a cutting Kevin Martin, and the mustard very much remains on this hot dog.
The power forward with fantastic court vision would play 28 minutes in the ramp-up game, garnering nine points, seven rebounds and five assists.
The man is a walking double-double machine, so we assume he was taking it easy on Moscow and working on the finer points of his game.
Of course, this all means that the wait for the regular season to arrive just seems longer than it did moments earlier. The more sick passes like this we get to see, the more we need the games that matter to arrive.
