What the Pirates Need to Do to Take the Next Step
For 20 years, the Pittsburgh Pirates were left on the outside looking in at the Major League Baseball postseason.
Now look at them.
The Bucs won 94 games during the regular season and find themselves knocking on the door of the National League Championship Series after overcoming a rough start against the St. Louis Cardinals in the Division Series. The Pirates have the look of a classic Cinderella team.
For the Pirates to go as deep in the postseason as they want to, however, a few things need to happen.
As far as B/R MLB Lead Writer Zachary D. Rymer is concerned, the Pirates indeed have enough things going right for them. But they need to get one of their top starting pitchers back on track, and could use some more production out of two key members of their lineup.
