Behind three home runs, some fantastic defense and excellent relief pitching, the Oakland Athletics walked into Comerica Park and outplayed the Detroit Tigers, taking a 2-1 lead in the ALDS and now sit one game away from advancing to the next round of the playoffs.

Coco Crisp went 3-for-4 with a pair of leadoff doubles, scoring the first run of the game in the top of the third inning and putting the A's up 3-0 in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Stephen Vogt from third base.

Anibal Sanchez, the American League ERA champion, got knocked around, surrendering three home runs for the first time since July 28 of 2012—his first start in a Tigers uniform. His final line on the day wasn't a pretty one: 4.1 IP, 8 H, 6 R (5 ER), 3 BB and 6 K.

Crisp was the best player on the field today, while Prince Fielder, 2-for-4 with a run scored, did what he could to keep the Tigers afloat.

The team that many predicted would represent the American League in the World Series, the Tigers now sit one game away from elimination, with Game 4 set to get underway at 5:07 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
