The first ever WWE Battleground pay-per-view is just underway. This event will determine who the undisputed WWE Champion is after the title being held up since the Raw after Night of Champions. In addition, feuds of CM Punk vs. Paul Heyman (by way of Ryback), RVD vs. Alberto Del Rio and The Shield vs. the Rhodes family are the key elements in the attempt to make this event successful.
Along with these matches, the recent confirmations of Kofi Kingston vs. Bray Wyatt and R-Truth vs. Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental Championship look to further shape the undercard.
To assist with this, WWE.com has scheduled another match for the inaugural PPV.
Adding to an already stacked WWE Battleground card, it has just been announced that Santino Marella & The Great Khali will take on The Real Americans, Jack Swagger & Antonio Cesaro, in a tag team match at tonight’s pay-per-view.
Santino returned on the September 9th episode of Raw, after a hiatus that included healing from a neck injury and concentrating on his new Battle Arts Academy training center. He defeated Antonio Cesaro in his first match back in five months, and has an impressive win/loss record since his return.
Shortly after his comeback, he was paired with the Great Khali and Hornswoggle as a comedic tag team, even going the lengths of Khali having a flute battle with Jinder Mahal for control of the "Cobra" against Heath Slater.
Although the Santino/Great Khali tag team will not be a significant asset to the division, and Santino received a noticeable ovation upon his return and the following shows without Khali, at least WWE is investing more time in the tag picture, which is something that is much needed.
Who will win this match? Santino/Khali or the Real Americans? Comment (civilly) below.
