David Wilson Injury: Fantasy Owners Must Add Brandon Jacobs and Michael Cox
David Wilson of the New York Giants finally reached the end zone in Week 5, but now it appears he's left the game due to a neck injury and his return is questionable, per Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News:
David Wilson has a neck injury. His return is "questionable". #NYG— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoNYDN) October 6, 2013
While it isn't clear exactly how serious the injury is or if Wilson will even miss time, it's never too early to start planning your next move if he's on your roster. Heck, even if Wilson isn't on your team, the depth of the position is bare at this point in the season and the Giants backups could be a solution for you.
Jenny Vrentas of Sports Illustrated pointed out that both veteran Brandon Jacobs and rookie Michael Cox will be handling the workload with Wilson out.
David Wilson took a while to stand up after that non-safety. Now headed back to Giants locker room. Running backs are Jacobs, rookie Cox.— Jenny Vrentas (@JennyVrentas) October 6, 2013
Cox is certainly the less proven of the two. The rookie back has yet to carry the ball or catch a pass this season and has only seen action with two kickoff returns.
As far as Jacobs is concerned, he has just 11 carries for 11 yards this season since returning to the G-Men. Jacobs hasn't run for 1,000 yards since 2008 and at age 31, he likely doesn't have much left in the tank.
Still, keep an eye on both of these backs in Week 5 as either one could emerge as this team's starter if Wilson is knocked out.
