WWE Battleground is upon us. WWE has done everything they can do to tell their stories and and hype up their matches, and Sunday is when we finally find out how these stories will conclude.
CM Punk and Paul Heyman's feud has been driven by matches with Brock Lesnar and Curtis Axel, but now it's Ryback's turn to try to stop CM Punk from taking his revenge on Paul Heyman.
Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton will fight to see who claims the vacant WWE Championship, while RVD will try one more time to take the World Title from Alberto Del Rio in what is being called a "Batteground Hardcore Rules Match.
The Shield will take on Cody Rhodes and Goldust in a match where Rhodes' and Goldust's WWE futures are on the line. Dusty Rhodes will be in his son's corner for the match, but the chances are good that an Atomic Elbow will be dropped on someone at some point in the match.
Brie Bella will attempt to become a two-time Divas champion when she takes on AJ Lee, and the most recent addition to the card is Kofi Kingston vs. Bray Wyatt.
R-Truth will take on Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental Championship and the pre-show will see Dolph Ziggler take on Money in the Bank winner Damien Sandow.
This pay-per-view has the potential to be a great show. This slideshow will take a look at each match and attempt to make predictions for the outcomes and possible fallout of each match.
This match doesn't really have a feud behind it, but these two men should be able to produce a pretty entertaining bout.
The fact that nobody gains or loses much from a win or a loss makes this a pretty hard match to predict.
If WWE wants to get the crowd hot right off the bat then they need to book Ziggler to win. He gets great reactions when he hits his big spots, and it's always a smart move to book a babyface to win in the first match of the night in order to give the crowd something to cheer for to get them going.
Sandow has a guaranteed titles show, and a win over Ziggler wouldn't do anything for him. Ziggler, on the other had, could really benefit from a win at a PPV, even if it is on the pre-show.
I pick Ziggler for the win in this one. He needs a boost right now, and he is over enough to get the crowd hot for the start of the main show.
Predicted Winner: Dolph Ziggler
Kofi Kingston defeating Bray Wyatt seems really unlikely. Wyatt is still in the midst of his debut push, and with his first win being over Kane, losing to Kingston would be a huge step in the wrong direction for his character.
Wyatt has been saying that the first will fall at Battleground, but if Kane wasn't the first, that could mean he will return as Wyatt's ally.
I don't see this match being the real story on Sunday. Kane will likely return, appearing to be coming to Kofi's rescue, only to turn on him and join Wyatt.
Kofi will put up a good fight early on, but this match will likely be a quick win for Wyatt with a long after-match segment.
Predicted Winner: Bray Wyatt
AJ Lee has been a very successful Divas champion, but Battleground might be her swan song. Brie Bella is one of the major focal points of the highly successful Total Divas, and I wouldn't put it past WWE to put the belt on her so it could be featured on the next season of the show.
Brie is also starting to use a wider variety of offense in her matches, and with AJ being as talented as she is, this could end up being a really good match.
AJ losing the title would not mean she would be out of the title scene. WWE could get two or three PPVs out of a feud between AJ and the women on Total Divas, so Brie winning seems like a very good possibility.
One thing that might get in Brie's way is Tamina, who AJ has apparently hired to be her backup. It could go either way, but Brie with the title seems like a PR move WWE would make right now to push Season 2 of their reality show.
That being said, I hope I am wrong and AJ walks out as champion, but I see a win for Bella at Battleground.
Predicted Winner: Brie Bella
Curtis Axel hasn't really had a chance to be an IC champion with his own storyline since winning the title because his manager has been in a feud with CM Punk the entire time.
Axel needs to win this match decisively to really remind people that he is the IC champion and he deserves to hold that title.
R-Truth was sort of thrust into this title match, and seeing as he wasn't exactly being pushed in the first place, him winning the title seems pretty out there.
Axel will win this match, or get disqualified and retain his title anyway.
Predicted Winner: Curtis Axel
This match will see Cody Rhodes and his brother Goldust fight for their livelihoods as they take on The Shield.
Cody Rhodes is not going to stay fired from WWE, but Goldust might not be so lucky. I see Triple H pulling a fast one and saying something like the person who gets the pin gets the contract, while the other stays jobless.
But Goldust is in great shape and could contribute a lot to WWE to help the younger generation. If both men end up getting contracts, then hopefully we get a Cody vs. Goldust match at WrestleMania.
Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will lose one way or the other, but seeing both Rhodes and Goldust win contracts and have a happy ending with their father seems unlikely given Triple H and Stephanie's backhanded tactics as of late.
Predicted Winners: Cody Rhodes and Goldust
The feud between Paul Heyman and CM Punk has been great so far, but a match with Ryback might not live up to everything else we have seen during this program.
Punk might be able to carry the match and make it entertaining, but this won't be a show-stealer. The real excitement will come after the match when CM Punk either gets his hands on Paul Heyman or Heyman reveals what trick he has prepared for CM Punk this time.
A Brock Lesnar appearance would not be out of the question at this point, and it would certainly help the inaugural Battleground PPV be a memorable one.
Punk seems like he will come away with a win in some way, but a clean win is another story.
Predicted Winner: CM Punk
There are a lot of possible outcomes to this match, but the ones where RVD leaves with the title seem the least likely.
Ricardo Rodriguez could turn on RVD and help ADR retain the title, Alberto could win cleanly, or maybe RVD will win the title and then lose it to Damien Sandow right away.
This match will be exciting to watch, and hopefully WWE finds some way to make the outcome interesting.
Predicted Winner: Alberto Del Rio
This is the match everyone is waiting for. Randy Orton is being billed as the new face of WWE, but Daniel Bryan is easily the most over person on the entire roster right now.
I predict no less than 15 separate chants for Daniel Bryan throughout the match. People are usually chanting the word yes randomly throughout the night as it is.
Bryan winning the title would send the crowd into a frenzy, and it would certainly allow for the feud to continue for at least one or two more PPVs.
Unfortunately it just seems like the deck will be too stacked against Bryan for him to walk out with the belt. Since the title is vacant even a countout or DQ win would mean a title win.
In the end it makes more sense to have Orton win the title, but not necessarily in a clean victory. I want to say Bryan will win, but I just don't see it happening.
Predicted Winner: Randy Orton
