Less then 10 days removed from the NCAA basketball championship game, and the sounds from the collegiate basketball world are as dead silent as the cheers coming from American Airlines Arena.
The most notable news thus far was the dismantlement of an already horrendous basketball team at the University of Alabama.
Players are jumping ship in Tuscaloosa faster than those off the Patriots’ bandwagon.
There is virtually no news anywhere. And what little stir there is?
It is either insignificant or confined to a local region. Therefore, nothing is making a move in the college basketball world on a national scale.
Compared to the college football scene, which just days after the season ended with a mystical aura surrounding it everywhere due to the intense hype over the forthcoming signing day, college basketball has virtually died.
Compared to the NFL season, which people are still deliberating and anticipating its impending draft, college basketball appears to be so far removed.
It’s hard to believe it was just 10 days ago!
I know the NBA season is in the heat of the play-off race, which may have something to do with the lack of interest in the “Historic Tournament” that ended last Monday.
I know the interest will pick back up as the next season approaches.
But is it just me, or does when college basketball end, it really ends?

i humbly disagree. look around, there are reports everywhere of who is leaving for the draft, who is getting signed by what school, etc... although basketball is not nearly as popular as football.

I agree, there are some reports, Safa. But everything seems to be regional, nothing big is happening here in the south. There is certainly no buzz on BR concerning CBB.
I also agree with the popularity aspect, but I know some people who are die hard CBB fans, yet nothing new is coming forth.
I was just trying to spark some interest and prompt some article perhaps. I'd like to know what's going on in the world of college hoops, because I'm not hearing anything.
Thanks for commenting!

It's like an announcer saying "This guy is perfect from the line tonight" and then, oops, there he just missed his first free-throw. I declared that college basketball had died in the past two weeks, and wouldn't you know it, today articles are popping-up everywhere.
So in as much humility as I can muster...you're welcome college basketball fans!

Give it some time, about 3-4 weeks, and the whole draft talk will heat up. ESPN thinks you should care so much about the NFL draft that they are showing this Sportscenter "special" about who will go where. I could seriously care less and I have been keeping up with all the CBB news: Bama's new JUCO recruit, Psycho-T returning, Anthony Grant getting an extension through 2012-13. All that has happened in the last 24 hrs. Not to mention a new #1 on the Rivals 100 board this past week and Greg Monroe, the former number 1, dropped all the way to #8, ouch. Congrats to OSU for getting the new #1 BJ Mullens.
