ALDS Series Tied at 1-1

For most of Game 2, the Oakland Athletics failed to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

However, when it mattered most, the A's finally delivered the winning run across the plate.

The winning run came in the form of Yoenis Cespedes, who crossed the plate into the open arms of his teammates on a walk-off single by Stephen Vogt.

The A's were able to get to that point because of a spectacular start by Sonny Gray, who struck out nine batters in eight stellar innings in his first postseason start.

Gray outlasted Detroit's Justin Verlander, who struck out 11 in seven innings, in a pitching battle that will not soon be forgotten in postseason lore.

The series is now tied at 1-1 heading into Monday's Game 3 at Comerica Park in Detroit.
