Fresh off a series sweep of then No. 16 Texas A&M, the No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners look to take that fiery momentum into the Big 12 Tournament this week.

The Sooners (40-16) finished the regular season ranked second in the Big 12 Conference and are scheduled to play such opponents as Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Missouri. All three of these opponents lost the regular season series against the Sooners including the sweep of A&M.

No. 8 Oklahoma will open the 2009 Big 12 Championship on Wednesday, May 20 against the No. 7 seed, Texas Tech (24-30). The Sooners, seeded second, will take on the Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma will continue pool play on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against No. 6 seed, Texas A&M (34-21). On Saturday, OU will play final opponent in its pool, No. 3 seeded Missouri (32-23), at 4 p.m.

Right now the high-powered Sooner squad is sitting pretty, and all signs are pointing to a possible NCAA Regional bid at L. Dale Mitchell Park, but the Sooners are focused on the task at hand.

“That is out of our hands,” said Golloway when asked about hosting a NCAA Regional. “What we control is playing well in the Big 12 on Wednesday.”

The Sooners certainly have the offensive numbers this season to make a deep run in the tournament and a possible championship. They finished the regular season No. 1 in both home runs and RBI's in the Big 12 Conference.

With the tournament already underway, keep a lookout for Oklahoma, because they will put up the numbers to make a run at a Big 12 Title. All Big 12 Tournament games can be seen live via free webcast on www.big12sports.com
