Arizona State gives Notre Dame six points in college football betting action Saturday and there hasn’t been much luck associated with the Fighting Irish as underdogs.
ASU is on a solid streak of covering the spread at home and the computer predicts this will continue.
Point spread: Arizona State opened as 6-point favorites; the total was 62 Thursday. (Line updates and Matchup report)
Computer Prediction: 43-30 Sun Devils
Why Arizona State can cover the spread
Quarterback Taylor Kelly has completed 158 of 242 of his passes (.653) for 2,075 yards (296.4 ypg) and 19 touchdowns in his last seven games dating back to 2012. Wideout Jaelen Strong is off to one of the best starts for a receiver in school history, having tallied 433 yards (108.2 ypg) on 31 receptions (7.8 rpg).
They face an Irish team that is winless ATS in six games as an underdog.
Why Notre Dame can cover the spread
It's amazing what motivation off humiliation can do for a college football team. The Fighting Irish, coming off a loss in the BCS National Championship, began the season No. 14 but are now out of the Top 25 after losing 35-21 at home to Oklahoma.
The Irish are out to avenge the setback.
The Sun Devils have one of the most prolific passing games in the nation, as their 15th-ranked total offense is paced by the nation's 7th-best passing game, and the 11th-ranked scoring offense that is posting 44.3 points per game. That doesn't bode well for an Irish team that won't keep up. They tend to win and cover at home.
Notre Dame is 0-5-1 ATS in past six games as an underdog
Arizona State is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games at home
